Expert-Led Horizontal Directional Drilling Programme Forecasting Powered by StrataCast

StrataCast is Pangeotek’s proprietary HDD duration and risk‑intelligence framework used internally to interrogate assumptions, structure uncertainty, and produce defensible programme forecasts in complex ground conditions.

Rather than generating simplistic drilling-time outputs, StrataCast models full calendar duration and separates drilling physics from programme friction, downtime, and ground transitions. The outcome is a transparent, assumption-driven duration assessment designed to withstand scrutiny at bid and governance level.

 

Each forecast is supported by a clear planning narrative explaining dominant duration drivers, escalation mechanisms, and key uncertainty sensitivities.​​

Calendar Duration Ranges

We produce full calendar duration ranges rather than isolated drilling-time estimates. Outputs are structured as bounded scenarios (Low / Best / High, P10 / P50 / P90 equivalent), allowing clients to understand exposure before pricing, commitment, or board approval. The objective is not precision but defensible range visibility.

Complexity Quantification

​Operational friction is separated from drilling physics. Interface constraints, access limitations, handling systems, crew coordination, and site logistics are explicitly represented so that programme complexity is visible rather than embedded within optimistic drilling rates.

Explicit Downtime Modelling

Downtime is not applied as a generic percentage. We model downtime as a structured component of programme duration, reflecting ground behaviour, tool performance, handling cycles, and escalation mechanisms. This ensures that non-productive time is visible, reasoned, and proportionate to the conditions.

Transparent Calculation Architecture

​Every output is traceable to defined assumptions. The modelling process is transparent and structured, allowing assumptions to be reviewed, challenged, and adjusted without destabilising the whole forecast. This enables constructive technical discussion rather than black-box outputs.

​When ground conditions deteriorate, productivity falls and downtime increases; together. Our modelling framework rejects independence assumptions and applies scenario-based escalation logic, ensuring that adverse conditions compound realistically rather than being averaged away.
